Intro

I choose to write to share with family and friends and myself by putting my words onto paper (or digitally online). I can look back when I am older at the memories and be able to still share it with my loved ones. I choose to write and blog knowing I do not want to repeat my past mistake from being involved in the hurricane of 2005 and choosing not to bring my beloved items. I lost a lot of pictures and belongings as a child during the storm and I know I can not change back time to record every favorite memory I had or carry all the albums of photos and videos of my family and my twin. Creating this blog allows me to feel safe and know I can always have a backup so I will never forget and loose a precious memory.

Poem: Her Dad- A Man

Her Dad - A Man
That grainy, colored photograph, which every time she looks gives her mixed emotions.
She closes her eyes, feels the warm sunlight, and hears the sound of the ocean.
A mother and her daughter; everyday growing sharper.
A picture of three smiling and playing in the water.

She hears soft laughter from her daughter as she wobbles around in sand.
Nothing but wavy brown curls and her soft chubby hands.
Reminiscing yet pained, she questions why he had to leave so soon, a choice taken away by fate.
Our little bundle of joy continues to love you even with the little memory, she learned not to hate.

Despite the odds, where he is not here today to help his daughter into bed,
And to answer the silly questions inside her head.
Where is he to show
How a real man should love a woman, I guess they both will never know.

With her daughter laughing in the distance, she comes back into reality - flushed back with pain Away from the happy memory of three in the sand.

Everyday the baby girl grows up mirthful and smart, even without the the one important thing in Her life, her dad - a man.

[This poem was written for one of my English classes]

  1. I wrote this piece to remind those who have lost a loved one or a husband to cherish them and never take them for granted because we do not know when it will be their last day or our last day. I want my readers to know that no matter how painful it is to loose someone, they are never truly gone, they are living in our memories and they are in a happier peaceful place.
